Although it is going by way too fast, we are thoroughly enjoying our summer! I am going to do a catch up post with lots of pictures and a little storytelling along the way to summarize what we have been up to.
First, we have spent a lot of time with my dancers. We have had car washes, choreography camps, kiddie camps, charitable events, and lots of practices. Cooper and Colson have attended many of these with me. Cooper especially enjoyed going to the Wilderness at the Smokies for dance camp at the beginning of June. He did not seem to mind being surrounded by these lovelies for a week!
He most definitely enjoyed all of the pool time and braved his first water slide.
This is also where he picked up his new pet "Gatlinburg."
We also had both boys allergy tested. This was a 5 hour marathon testing session where they both ended up testing negative for penicillin allergies, even though we thought BOTH of them were allergic to penicillin!
Surprisingly, they were both amazingly well behaved considering the circumstances. Especially Cooper...he was so brave!
Thankfully no major allergies were discovered and both boys were rewarded with Chic Fil A and a new toy at Target. It was much better of a day than I feared it was going to be, and thankfully I had my sweet friend Jenna along to help me manage them. I am thinking having "two moms" really came in handy!
We have run many errands together this summer. To the mall,
to the grocery store,
and many other places. Usually this is what both boys look like on the way home from our errands. Typically it is ME who feels like napping, but of course that doesn't happen because by the time we get home these two are re-energized and ready to go!
We have also spent lots of time catching up on chores at home. Cooper is becoming more and more helpful around the house. He has learned how to fold clothes, but sometimes he tends to have more fun playing with the clothes than folding them.
He likes to load the washer and dryer and match socks. I am thankful for the help.
When we are not working at home, we spend lots of time playing on the new playset Daddy built the boys.
He found it used at a yard sale and moved it, put it back together with new hardware, and stained it himself.
It looks fantastic and the boys have really had a great time on their own playground at home!
We ordered them new swings because the old ones were rusted. It is as good as new and they absolutely love it!
I have been spending six days a week working out at home trying to get myself in shape this summer. The boys love to work out with me. Cooper calls himself my "coach" and makes sure I am always doing the moves correctly.
He keeps me hydrated too. Sweet boy. One night as I stumbled onto the floor from complete exhaustion at the end of the workout he went outside and informed Josh "mommy died." I sure felt like I had. This Insanity is hard stuff!
They spend lots of time coloring and writing at their art table,
playing with Legos,
eating (they eat NONSTOP!),
and dressing up in all kinds of costumes. Colson was sad because I would not let him wear his Thomas suit to the grocery store. Silly boy!
We have enjoyed lunches out with friends,
celebrated a 12 year anniversary,
and had a fun 4th of July with friends too.
It has been quite a rainy summer, but we have taken advantage of as many sunny days as possible and have spent them poolside at Pa and Nan's pool.
Cooper is now swimming freestyle and butterfly and can swim a breathholder across the pool. He has come a long way since last summer when I could not even get him to put his face in!
Colson is very independent in the water and can get around well in his puddle jumper.
He likes for Cooper to chase him in the pool and to play "zoom-zoom." It is a game that Martha taught me to play with little ones in the water. He begs to play it each time we swim.
We spent one morning visiting Pappaw and riding his tractor. The boys really enjoyed that morning.
Colson really, REALLY likes tractors.
He made his Dad drive him all over the yard, again and again.
Cooper enjoyed driving the tractor all by himself.
Colson was also impressed that his Pappaw had grapes growing in his yard.
He was fascinated by them.
Last week Cooper spent some time at RUMC at their Life Sport camp playing soccer. Of course, I don't have to even tell you that he had a good time. If soccer is involved...Cooper is happy.
So there you go... a huge photo dump with a bit of narration along the way. I have really enjoyed having extra time this summer to hang out with these boys. As loud and crazy as they can be when they are together, they never cease to make me smile and laugh. I am so thankful to have summers off so that I can have this extra time with them and would not trade it for anything! I just wish I could slow the summer down because I know it is going to be over way too soon.
