A very fast month...

I blinked...and Colson went from being 3 to 4 months old.

This past month has been an unusually busy one, mainly due to returning to work after the holiday break, competing with the dance team at KSU, and hosting our own dance competition yesterday.  It has quite honestly worn me out!  Today I am home and know I should be aggressively attacking this pile of laundry, the dishes on the counters, the dust on everything, the bills on the desk, the dirty bathrooms, and the messy floors...but INSTEAD I have watched Kung Fu Panda with both boys on my lap, played play doh for a few hours, drawn and colored, tickled, snuggled, rocked, and just enjoyed my two boys today.  Sometimes you just have to let things go...until the kids go to sleep anyway.  Tonight may be a late night...but that's ok.

So while I have one asleep in his bed and one asleep on my lap, I thought I would try to quickly update my blog with Colson's 4 month pictures.  Despite the fact that he has been photographed significantly less than Cooper was at this age (everyone said I would take less and I swore I would not but yep...I am taking less), he is quite gracious when the camera comes out and makes many happy, funny, and silly faces for me to capture with my camera.

In the past month he has really developed such a friendly, mellow personality.  It is pretty easy to make him smile.  When he fusses it is usually simple to calm him.  He rarely cries, and when he does, it is because he is tired, hungry, or wet.  His curiosity has really developed this past month and he is always checking out everything around him with those huge blue eyes.

He started laughing this month.  It is one of the best sounds in the world to my ears.

If you tickle his chin, or shake his arms, or wiggle his chest, he will just cackle with a wide open smile.

He also tries to talk to me all the time.  He will just babble and growl and make all kinds of convincing sounds that he really has something to say.  I just nod my head and pretend to understand and continue the conversation.  He is quite the talker.  I am guessing he gets that from his dad's side of the family...

He is constantly chewing on his hands and fingers.  It makes me wonder if teeth may be coming soon.  I read  online that around 4 months is when babies saliva increases.  Check that milestone off for Colson.  He is a water faucet.

He is also fascinated with his feet.  Since it is winter time he does not get to see them often as we usually have them bundled in footie pajamas or socks.  But on the occasion he is barefoot in the house, he always finds his feet and stares at them with a look of "what are you and where did you come from?"

He is pretty good at holding his head up on his own now.  He still is not crazy about doing it, and won't do it for very long.  About 5 minutes of tummy time is all he will give me.  Then the whimpering begins.

Since he is such a good baby, I cannot let him whimper long.  Cooper was a different story at this age.  He pretty much cried all the time, and it did not matter if he was in my arms or not...he was tough to soothe.  But Colson makes it so easy that my heart melts when he starts to cry.  Most of the time, though, he is just mellow and content...

Or smiling...

And don't forget drooling...

But my favorite activity of this past month is the laughing.

What a wonderfully sweet blessing this little boy has been to us.  Each month he brings more happiness to our lives.  This time last year we were just discovering that we were going to have a baby again.  Our lives have changed a great deal since then, and this little boy has been the best addition we could have ever dreamed of!

Happy 4 month birthday Lil C!  We love you so much!!
